Accessible transport in Norwich

A dial-a-ride transport charity based in Norwich, NorfolkWe are a specialist transport solution charity -the objective is to enable social inclusion for severely disabled children, disabled adults and older mobility impaired people who are on low income and find they are unable to use mainstream transport or the volunteer car schemes.

Our Aims - Social inclusion for people whose disabilities curtail their independence and access - transport to enable you to make your own contribution to the community in which you live.

The Norwich Transport Strategy 1998 document estimates that between 10% and 12% of the population living in Norwich are unable to use public transport. This suggests that 24,000 fall into this category. We at Norwich Door to Door aim to access the most needy of this client group to provide the services that they need.

Access is a right not a privilege

"An inaccessible society fails its members because it prevents some people from realising their full potential. Not only is an individual excluded from society (with all the resulting problems that this entails) but society fails to benefit from their inclusion how can they contribute to society if this necessitates travel but the means of transport is inaccessible."
Quotation from Nick Tyler - Accessibility and The Bus System from The Accessibility Research Group- University College London.
