Happy New year to all our readers

We have had a brilliant end to 2008 and start to 2009 with lots of successful fund raising and some very kind and generous donations and Christmas treats of chocolates/ biscuits for the Norwich Door to Door team from you our friends and passengers, thank you.

The December Quiz and Chips was our best to date and raised £487.00; we had lots of new friends join us this time and as ever David our Quiz master looked after us very well with topical questions aplenty to challenge our grey cells!

Next Quiz and Chips date for the diary Saturday 14 March 2009

The Christmas raffle made the brilliant total of £390 thank you to every one who bought a ticket and contributed goodies. The winners were :1st prize Sylvia Webster - Large Hamper...2nd and 3rd prizes of a medium hamper each Janice Hall & Margaret Rogers..4th prize “Mary” ...Champagne and Teddy.

The Table Top Sale in the hospital where we sold gifts, cards, preserves and craft items (independent from card sales and raffle tickets) contributed a very creditable £222.00. Thank you to all of you who donated items for sale and supported us. We were able as promised to organise some special trips before Christmas for shopping and leisure that were well subscribed and we are seeking new ideas from you for your spring adventures, do give us a call.

The greatest surprise of the year was when the staff at Marsh Insurance Co. chose Norwich Door to Door to be their Christmas charity. On each weekend from late November to late December the Marsh staff car park was open to Christmas shoppers and all the money donated to Norwich Door to Door. We are to be presented with the cheque on the 16 January. It has enabled us to order a new bus as we expect the amount to complete our fund-raising target of £34,000. The nomination for this fund came from a relative of one of our passengers who is also a Trustee—isn’t that wonderful.

Continuing the good news, one of our passengers whilst visiting the Norwich and Peterborough Building Society noticed that the society had a policy of supporting local good causes and nominated us for a donation. We were delighted to receive a telephone call in mid December advising the Norwich branches wished to help us and their donation has paid for some much needed new uniform tops for the driving team. So please keep talking about us you never know who is listening!
