Your support matters!

Your support matters to Norwich Door to DoorLike most charities we started out because there was an unmet need. If you were a disabled person you had as much choice as society including local government provision allowed you equals not a lot! Freedom to go where you wanted when you wanted was unimaginable for most of us. Today society is more enlightened but we continue to face barriers and inconsistencies in the level of service we can expect every day.

If you knew someone who couldn’t get out and about and you could help them with their shopping, take them to visit a friend or partner in hospital/care home or get to the dentist you would help them wouldn’t you? But what if they couldn’t get into your car and the specialist taxi rates were more than they could afford? We could help another 20 people with another bus team – we have 20 people on a waiting list now!

As a local group we are working with our community and for the benefit of our community and we know the old adage “together we are strong” is just as true today. We rely on the good will of the people who support us whether you are helping out at events, a regular “in house” volunteer, an employee or you are sending a donation. It’s about caring for our neighbours and fellow citizens and enjoying the companionship of like minded people all pulling together and seeing how lives can be transformed.

Access to transport changes lives

You can help in any of the following ways:

Become a volunteer - To benefit from an organisation like ours you need to become a member and we only accept new members if we know we can offer them a seat on our service. We could accept 20 new and currently housebound members if we had another dedicated team. We urgently need another team of volunteers, a mini bus driver and a passenger assistant.

Help at our events - As well as being fundraising orientated we make all our events accessible to disabled people and with consideration to their needs on the day. We know if we are seen to be helping ourselves we inspire friends to come and join us. Our events need people to assist with the overall strategic planning, access issues – weather issues – entertainers – memorabilia of the theme we are adopting. All our events need raffle prizes and help with publicity and transport.

Become a sponsor - either as an individual or as a corporate member. We operate a Sponsor a Seat on the Bus scheme…a 100 Club – our passengers make us handmade craft greetings cards and we recycle all the best of the material our passengers send us. We need markets for these.

If you like us spread the word - for what is better than a personal endorsement.

Send a donation so that we can continue to provide our services and continue to develop.

Sign up to every click the charity search engine if you nominate Norwich Door to Door as your charity we benefit each time you use it. We signed up in May 2007 and there are now 12 supporters and so far together we have credited ND2D with over £87.
